This section refers to prizes that are exclusively available to law students.
1. SCHOLARSHIPS
The law firm of Webber Wentzel Bowens will in the 2006 academic year award a scholarship in its name to a
student in the penultimate year of the LLB at the University of Fort Hare. The value of the scholarship is
R10 000.
2. PRIZES
This prize in the sum of R1 000 is awarded annually by the law firm of Adams and Adams to the top achiever in
Intellectual Property Law (LMI 432).
Three prizes in the sum of R2 000 each are awarded annually by the law firm of Bowman Gilfillan to the top
three achievers in Corporate Law (LML 312).
Donated by Mr and Mrs Yazbeck, this prize is awarded to the most deserving and academically outstanding first year LLB student on the East London Campus.
Donated by the ELAA, this prize is awarded to the student who obtains the best results in Legal Studies 3 (formerly Legal Theory 3) on the East London Campus.
Donated by Mike Chubb, this prize is awarded for the top student in Commercial Law III on the East London Campus.
2. BURSARIES
Three bursaries in the sum of R1 500 each are awarded annually by the law firm of Smith Tabata Inc. to three
students selected for participation in the firm’s bursary and mentorship programme for UFH law students.
Several bursaries in the sum of R10 000 per year are awarded annually by the Attorneys Fidelity Fund to senior
law students on the basis of merit and need.
